Best vegan eats in Saint Louis
If you are a vegan who lives in St. Louis or are traveling to the area, here are some great resturants you might want to check out:
1.) Lulu’s Local Eatery – Lulu’s is an entirely vegan restaurant so you can order anything on the menu without worrying. They have a different menu in spring/summer than in fall/winter to take advantage of what is currently in season. Most of the ingredients are local and organic, and almost everything in the restaurant is compostable. You even get a discount for riding your bike.
2.) Fred & Ricky’s – Have you ever seen the documentary Forks over Knives? Of course you have! Well the food here is not only vegan but it is also oil free and sugar free. Perfect for the whole food plant based diet discussed in this documentary. While this isn’t really a restaurant (more of a shop full of pre-made and refrigerated meals) you can get the food delivered using GrubHub, or you can heat it up and eat at one of the tables in their shop.
3.) Treehouse– Treehouse is a vegetarian restaurant but almost everything on the menu is also available as vegan. They have both a breakfast and dinner menu, and a full bar. On a nice day you can even dine outside.
4.) Gokul – This is an indian restaurant located on the loop and is 100% vegetarian, with vegan options available. They have a buffet (with the vegan items labeled) or you can order off the menu if you know exactly what you want. I personally love their samosas!
5.) Sqwires – This is my favorite place to go for a vegan breakfast. Although this restaurant does serve meat, they have several fully vegan options that are labeled as vegan (and some as vegetarian) on their menu so it’s easy to see what you can get. I absolutely love the veggie hash complete with vegan sausage. They also have a bloody Mary bar available if that’s your thing.
